Feel free to reach out, with no obligation, if you share the Stay Hamlet vision, if you are a fellow host, or if you are looking for someone to manage your second home.”

About Me

“My name is Sere (short for Serenella), and I moved from Milan to the tiny, magical village Castè. The name of my blog, ‘Sere nel Borgo Castè’, is a play on words: it means ‘Sere in the Village Castè’, but in Italian, ‘sere’ also means ‘evenings’—evoking the peaceful, starry nights you can experience here.”

“After graduating with a degree in Philosophy, I completed a Master’s in Marketing and Corporate Communication. This launched my 25-year career in media and television production. Communication, event organization, and press office management have always been my world.
I fell in love with marketing during my studies and have never stopped exploring this fascinating field. Soon, I’ll be sharing stories about my life as a TV producer on my blog—but today, I channel all this expertise into crafting unique hospitality experiences and marketing properties effectively.”

Castè and Life as a Host

In 2010, along with my husband Simone and our dachshund Mario, we discovered Castè. By 2013, we left Milan to move to this tiny village in the Val di Vara, where our new life truly began. I shared the story of this life-changing move in a chapter I co-authored for the Italian hospitality book ‘Cittadini Ospitali’ (Hospitable Citizens), published by Vivere di Turismo.
Today, alongside our own holiday homes—The Artist’s Garden in Milan and Castè Style near Cinque Terre—I also manage Fisherman’s House in Riomaggiore and For You in Castè as a professional property manager. As mentioned on the homepage, the core vision guiding my work is tourism as a regenerative process for local communities and territories.”

The Stay Hamlet Project

The Stay Hamlet project is an innovative and ambitious initiative dedicated to crafting transformative stays that connect guests with the local history and culture.
Through our holiday home management, we aim to offer much more than just a place to stay. We provide an opportunity to step into a deeper narrative, fostering a profound appreciation for local traditions and heritage. Our goal is to promote conscious and sustainable travel, allowing guests to explore cultural roots while actively contributing to the preservation and revival of these unique places.

Stay Hamlet Vision

Save the Hamlet:

The 25 local residents of Castè historic village posing together in matching t-shirts in front of Castè Style near Cinque Terre house, Liguria, Italy
Meet our community! All 25 residents of Castè gathered in front of our home. This is the heart of Save the Hamlet: connecting people, preserving history, and thriving together
Behind every property we manage lies a broader vision: Save the Hamlet. We believe in regenerative property management as a powerful tool to protect, add value to, and breathe new life into local areas.
Our philosophy, “Stay Local. Live History.”, perfectly encapsulates this mission. We encourage visitors to choose local destinations and immerse themselves in an experience that goes far beyond a standard stay.
Being ‘local’ means more than just paying attention to a place; it means forming a deep connection with its people and cultural traditions. In this way, our guests become an integral part of the community, fostering a meaningful interaction that benefits both visitors and locals alike.

The Importance of Hospitality and the Local Area

Cultural regeneration is another key pillar of the Stay Hamlet project. Our goal is to revitalize local traditions and artistic practices through active participation.

Through upcoming events, hands-on workshops, and interactive activities, guests will have the unique opportunity to learn from locals while directly supporting the community’s economy. This form of cultural travel is not only a deeply enriching experience for visitors, but it also serves as a vital resource for the villages, helping preserve their cultural heritage and strengthen local identity.

In Summary

Hospitality is far more than just a service; it is a profound act of love and respect for the land and the communities that inhabit it. It serves as a bridge between cultures and people, creating bonds that enrich both those who visit and those who welcome.

Welcoming others is not just a gesture, but a way to value and sustain local identity. Engaging with the local cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and culinary traditions fosters a mutual understanding that transcends language and geographical barriers.

The Stay Hamlet Vision : Conclusion

In conclusion, I deeply believe in the importance of the Save the Hamlet initiative. It aims to spark a virtuous cycle of regeneration that is essential not only for the residents of areas with high historic and natural value, but also for future generations.
Bringing forgotten stories to light and valuing meaningful spaces allows community members to reconnect with their roots and rediscover the pride of sharing them with their guests.
